Policies

CODE OF ETHICS, SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Our therapists/practitioners are licensed and/or certified, and comply with the highest standards in their industry.  Our therapist/practitioners do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions.

EXISTING AND NEW MEDICAL CONDITIONS
It is the responsibility of the client to keep the therapists/practitioners informed of current and changing medical condition, including treatments and medications the client is receiving.  In some cases, we may request written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., to assure that it is safe for the client to receive massage/bodywork/acupuncture/EFT from us.

APPOINTMENT BOOKING
Once booking takes place, the time slot will be reserved exclusively for you and will not be double booked.  If needed, appointments may be made outside of regular business hours and will be charged accordingly.

For first time clients, please fill out the online TMJ intake form or EFT Intake Form at the time of booking.  If you prefer to fill out a hardcopy, please print out the intake form and bring with you, or plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled session to fill out form, so we could start your session on time.

SESSION PAYMENTS
Your appointment slot is reserved just for you, and there are preparations to be done.  Therefore, we ask for your upfront payment to secure your appointment.  Please send in either the full payment for your session (or package), or the non-refundable deposit of $40, within 24 hours of your initial booking.  If you pay the deposit and wish to pay the balance after the session using a debit/credit card, $10 convenience fee will be assessed.  If we do not receive your payment (either in full or the deposit) within the 24 hours, we reserve the right to release your appointment so we may serve other clients.  If you need some more time, please communicate with us.

CANCELATIONS
Unanticipated events do happen occasionally in everyone’s life.  In an effort to be effective and fair to all clients, we ask that you give us 48 hours advance notice to reschedule an appointment.  This allows the opportunity for other potential clients to utilize the time slot.  If 48 hours advance notice was not given, we retain the right to keep the deposit if this was your first session, or to proceed as described in the next section.

MISSED APPOINTMENTS
Appointments are considered missed if you do not show up at the scheduled time or reschedule less than 48 hours prior to your appointment.  In the event of a missed appointment, 50% of the scheduled session fee, or $40 deposit, whichever is larger, will be assessed as missed appointment fee.

LATE ARRIVAL POLICIES
Arriving late for appointments will regrettably result in a shortened session, or the need to reschedule so that we can stay on time.  Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the full scheduled session.  Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.  In some special cases, and when our schedule allows, we may be able to accommodate a partial extension. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival.

If the therapist is responsible for the delay and if time allows, client will receive a full massage paid for.  If we cannot provide the full scheduled session, the client will either receive a discount in accordance with the amount of time of delay, or will be allowed to book another full session at another time.

INFORMED CONSENT
Prior to the first visit with us, we ask that you read through the policies and provide thorough intake information along with your signature stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional policies and procedures. Clients who we have not seen for at least a year may also be asked to fill out this form.

RESPECT FOR CLIENT NEEDS AND BOUNDARIES
Our therapists/practitioners are happy to respond to requests to make the client most comfortable within reason, during any of the sessions.  For the most effective and comfortable session, please; try to do some self stretches, especially where you feel you are tense; take a bath or shower prior to your session;  try not to each a heavy meal an hour prior to your session; and wear loose and comfortable clothes. Please do let us know if you would to like to have the pressure adjusted, to have the background sound/music turned up or town, to be worked longer on a specific area or to have us moved on, etc.  Clients have the full right to refuse or stop the session at any time, and are free to leave.   We do ask that clients turn off all cell phones prior to their sessions.

PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES

Our Therapists have the right of refusal to treat any area of the body, and to terminate the session(s) if the therapist feels adversely influenced in any way by the client.  Anything that prevents us from being able to perform our tasks in a respectful, professional and non-judgmental way must be examined so that we can decide whom we may best serve.  Clear boundaries support an effective therapeutic process for both the client and the therapist.  Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated.  Such will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of our policies and procedures. The client will not be allowed to reschedule if this occurs.  Sexual intent, interaction of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND CONVERSATION
Client personal information is strictly confidential and respected unless we have your clear consent to share with the appropriate personnel/offices.  We do not share our clients’ lists. The conversation between therapists and clients is also confidential.

During sessions, clients are free to make requests or ask questions.  However, we would like to remind you that relaxation and self-awareness is one of the primary goals of therapeutic sessions; therefore you are encouraged to keep conversation to the minimal.  Try to take deep breaths and focus on your own body and within.  Relax as much as possible, and/or work with the therapist for the best therapeutic outcome.

Services, rates and policies are subject to change without prior notice from time to time, in our sole discretion.  If you have any questions on the information above, I am happy to discuss them with you.
